Self Care 101

It's so important that we remind ourselves that self-care not a luxury but a necessity for our overall wellbeing. Self care involves intentional actions that prioritize our physical, mental, and emotional health. Let’s delve into why self-care is crucial for our wellbeing and explore some easy things we can do to build a good self care routine as well as some things we can do right now to give ourselves a little love!







Replenishing Your Energy

Self-care allows you to recharge and replenish your energy reserves. By taking time for yourself and engaging in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, you prevent burnout and maintain a sustainable level of energy to tackle daily challenges. My favourite way to replenish my energy is to have a self pampering day. I like to run a hot bath and enjoy some much needed R&R time. A good book, and face mask, and a cheeky glass of red is how I like to do this.  



 

Promoting Mental and Emotional Wellbeing



Self-care nurtures your mental and emotional health. Engaging in activities like practicing mindfulness, journaling, or seeking therapy allows you to manage your emotions, improve self-awareness, and cultivate a positive mindset. Some things I like to do for promoting this is words of affirmation and encouragement. You are your own best-friend so, I like to have conversations with myself aloud to remind myself I’m doing a good job. Some affirmations to practice can include:
 



I create my own life on every level.

I have a healthy body, tranquil mind and a vibrant soul. 

I am enough. 

I don't entertain negativity in any shape or form. 

I love the fact that so many people have faith in me. 



Yes, it’s a bit cheesy but I swear that repeating positivity (even when times are not feeling so positive) can be so beneficial for creating your own happy healthy headspace! 


 

Prioritizing Physical Health

Self-care includes taking care of your physical health through regular exercise, nutritious eating, and adequate sleep. When you prioritize your physical well-being, you boost your immune system, increase your energy levels, and reduce the risk of developing chronic illnesses. A simple brisk walk in the morning and ensuring I get enough sleep the night before is one way I do this. Fresh sheets especially get me in bed sooner rather than later. Plus, there’s nothing better than the feeling of fresh, soft sheets! Having a cuddle with my dog is also a huge endorphin booster. The best way to end my evening!



So, just remind yourself that self-care is not selfish; it is a fundamental aspect of maintaining overall wellbeing! By prioritizing self-care, you replenish your energy, manage stress, and promote physical, mental, and emotional health. Embrace self-care as an essential practice in your life and witness the transformative impact it has on your wellbeing and quality of life in the long run.
